SAKSHAM

WEP imparts livelihood skills to underprivileged women from rural and urban slums and thereafter create trade opportunities to enable income generation, making the project sustainable. PTF is currently working with women from slums in Delhi and few villages in West Bengal. Women have been provided with training to make mats, stitch pouches, bags and other products out of waste fabric from garment factories and boutiques.

All profits go back to the projects serving them. To extend a more holistic support to the women, several workshops such as health and hygiene, eye camp, digital literacy, insurance and financial schemes, legal rights of women been planned.

Our uniqueness – In most slums, the social fabric within certain communities imposes restrictions on women to go out to work. PTF train women within the comfort zone of their respective localities and give employment opportunity at their doorstep, thereby enabling women to earn a fair wage empowering them economically. Beautiful products are uniquely handcrafted from sheer waste from garment factories and boutiques.

PTF has trained 53 women from 3 slums under project SAKSHAM and is able to generate income for women by generating sales across India and Global market.
